2021 District Conference Followup
Dear Florida Ministers,
Our 2021 Florida District Conference now rests in the pages of history. I cannot express enough my gratitude for everyone that worked so diligently, both out front and behind the scenes, to ensure such a great meeting. The attendance far exceeded our expectations, and the Spirit of the Lord was incredible.
One of the most encouraging moments was the large number of young people in attendance. They were not just present; they were connected to the move of God in each service.
It was a full week, but the Lord stepped in and helped us in many ways. Our District Board Meetings went very well. Due to the crowded conditions of our board room, we opted to meet our applicants and departments via Zoom.
We met several applicants on Monday and Tuesday. As a result, we licensed 17 new ministers, six ministers upgraded from Local License to General License, and three upgraded from General License to Ordination. Our department meetings went well also.
I would also like to update you on the current standings of our district. We currently have 205 churches. This number includes 153 autonomous churches, 41 Daughter Works, and 11 Preaching Points. I am happy to tell you that these numbers continue to rise. More applications for Daughter Works and Preaching Points were submitted after our conference ended. To God be the Glory!
As you know, COVID-19 adds a measure of uncertainty to what we will be allowed to do this year. Therefore, I have appointed a committee to work with our departments to access each upcoming event on our calendar. While we may have to make some adjustments, we desire to keep every function as normal as possible while at the same time keeping them safe.
I am encouraged by what I felt and saw during our District Conference and look forward to great things. Let’s bind together like never before and see what God will do in Florida throughout the remainder of the year.
Steve A. Boyd
Florida District Superintendent
