Our History
Initially, the State of Florida was part of the Southeastern District of the United Pentecostal Church, International. That District included the states of Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.
Serving from 1945 until 1959, W. A. Sherrill was District Superintendent of the Southeastern District.

At the 1959 Annual Conference, the State of Florida became the Florida District and D. L. Welch was elected District Superintendent and served until 1963.

At the 1963 Annual Conference, William Connell was elected to serve as the Florida District’s first full-time District Superintendent and served the next 19 years.

In March of 1982, O. C. Crabtree was elected District Superintendent and served the next 15 years until his passing in October of 1997.

At a Special Conference in November 1997, C. Patton Williams was elected District Superintendent and served until his retirement in 2020.

At the 2020 Annual Conference, Steve A. Boyd was elected District Superintendent and continues in that capacity leading the Florida District forward.
